OPENING OF A READING ROOM AND LITERARY INSTITUTE.
We are glad to inform the supporters of the penny readings, that the committee have fully performed what they promised at the commencement of the readings last autumn, that is, that they intended to devote the proceeds towards the promotion of a library, &c., which we have much pleasure of congratulating the inhabitants by recording the opening, which took place on Thursday evening last. The room being contiguous to Mr. Thomas’s, chemist, that gentleman has, through the request of the committee, kindly consented to act as librarian.
