SAD AND FATAL ACCIDENT
On Monday, August 15th, while Mr. Thomas Roberts, grocer, &c., was returning from the house after partaking of dinner, by some means or other he stumbled over a few steps leading to the house from the Main road and was hurled with great force over an adjoining wall into the road, falling backwards with great precipitancy, causing a fracture of the skull and rupturing some internal arteries, resulting in almost immediate death.
A coroner’s inquest was held and it was elicited that the deceased was rather the worse for drink, and returned a verdict of accidental death. Deceased was much respected for his quiet and inoffensive disposition.
