Annual Tea Party

The annual tea meeting in connection with the several Sunday-schools of the village took place on Monday. Prior to taking tea the scholars of the different schools paraded through the place, headed by the Tongwynlais Brass Band. After tea the scholars adjourned to a field kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Wm. Llewellyn, Castle Coch Farm, where several games were indulged in.

In the evening an entertainment was held by the combined schools at Ainon Welsh Baptist Chapel, presided over by Mr John Howells. During the evening a presentation of an address and purse of gold was made by the Nonconformists of Tongwynlais and neighbourhood to P.O. Wm. Nott on the occasion of his leaving the neighbourhood. Another presentation was made to him by the members of St. Michael’s Church, of an inkstand and a purse of gold. The recipient made an appropriate speech, thanking the several donors for their kindness.
